On the great adventure of life you grow up so big and strong You learn so much while this world turns, you journey for so long These lessons reveal within you a truth, a self you never knew You tell yourself you’ve changed so much, your old ways you eschew But how much of this is truly wrought and how much but a lie? How much is but a wistful dream meant for comfort lest you cry? Will you come back with gifts of gold to share with all you know? Or will your treasure rust and rot, and wither instead of grow? When you step back into a world once known will you remain so bold? Or will you sink into forgotten ways that leave you feeling cold? Will your old habits arise to claim what once they cruelly ruled? Or will your hard won elixir remain so a new life you might build?
Thank you for your time and attention, it truly is appreciated.

The question of whether people can change has always been an interesting one. We know that we come with a genetic package that affects so much abour our mind and body. That being said, as an educator, I am a strong believer in the power of books to open minds to new thoughts, to visit new places and to get to know people they might otherwise never encounter. Discussing these books creates a new avenue of thinking and, as a result, self-evaluation. I believe that this is the beginning of change.
A thought provoking piece!
